Local Parks to Help You Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day Did you know that over 1 billion people around the planet celebrate Earth Day? It’s more than creating green spaces and innovative green technologies. It’s also about appreciating the beautiful spaces right in our very own backyards. From preservation to conservation, making the most of local parks is one way to show just how much the Earth means to you. Whether you’re heading outdoors with your loved one or for a family picnic, here are a few local parks to check out. Be sure to follow safety guidelines before heading out for a hike!

 

Apache Wash Trail

1600 E Sonoran Desert Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85085 | Directions

As part of the Sonoran Preserve, this trail is in the middle of over 18,000 acres of desert views. Don’t forget to take your camera and get snapshots of the wonderful panoramic setting. There are plenty of multi-use trails (36 miles worth!) as well for those of you looking to hit those dirt paths.

 

Tramonto Park

35425 N. 32nd Drive | Directions

Open from 5:30 am to 10 pm every day, Tramonto Park is a great place to head to with your family and friends. There is a playground, small amphitheater and even lighted basketball and volleyball courts. It’s a great place to get your heart pumping, too!

 

Costume Contests Around Phoenix this Year

Start searching for the perfect costume because there are contests happening all over Phoenix now that Halloween is approaching. Trust us. You’re going to want to be ready. Need some costume ideas? We’re a fan of these. When you’ve found the right Halloween outfit, here are a few family-friendly events that feature some of the best costume contests in the area and so much more!

 

Goodyear Fall Festival | 5-9 pm

The Goodyear Ballpark hosts a Fall Festival every year and it’s always a good time. From trick-or-treating to performances, there’s a lot to see and do. Take a train ride with the family or show your competitive streak with the corn hole toss. Don’t worry, though. We know what you came for. The costume contest! Be sure to dress up and don’t forget to take some amazing pictures at the ballpark.

 

Halloween Spooktacular | October 27, 5:30-8:30 pm

Calling all ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and creatures! Get into your costumes. The Halloween Spooktacular is a safe and family-friendly way to spend the evening. Eat some delicious food, play some games, grab some souvenir photos, and don’t forget to walk through the Haunted House! Of course, there will be an exciting costume contest that you also don’t want to miss!
